At a distance, the king of vultures, Sampati was hearing all these discussions. He was old and hungry. When he heard the bears and monkeys discussing about death, he felt very happy.
Just then, one of the monkeys said, “Great was Jatyu! At least he tired to save mother Sita from the cruel Ravana. We have nothing at all to find her out.”
When Sampati heard Jatayu’s name, he grew alert. Jatayu was Sampati’s brother and the news of his death brought tears into Sampati flew down to the search team and learnt who they were and what they were seeking.
Then Sampati used his keen sight to see that Sita was being held capative in Lanka by the king of demons, Ravana. Lanka was across the ocean from where they were sitting. The ocean was about 100 yojans wide.
Hanumana, Angada and Jambavan were filled with joy on getting the whereabouts of mother Sita. They held a conference to find ways to cross the ocean and reach Lanka.
